Washington’s National Park Fund Mission and Vision

Washington’s National Park Fund works to strengthen and preserve Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Park so that they will always be strong and vibrant, youthful and everlasting.

What WNPF Does

Thanks to private support from people like you, Washington’s National Park Fund has given more than $3 million to Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks over the last seven years.

National Parks are not able to fundraise on their own behalf. With limited federal funding and increased visitation each year, private support is critical to ensuring the national parks can continue to fund programs and services in project areas as basic as visitor experiences, science and research, trail maintenance, search and rescue, volunteer and youth programs and more.

Each year, Superintendents from all three parks give Washington’s National Park Fund a list of top funding priorities in each park, projects like:

  • sustaining the Meadow Rover Program in Mount Rainier National Park, which provides management for this pivotal volunteer program that helps prevent damage to our subalpine meadows and ensure visitor safety;
  • reintroducing the Fishers in the North Cascades National Park, providing urgently needed funding so that the park can purchase live animals directly from the trappers;
  • building the Dark Skies Project in Olympic National Park, helping to retrofit light fixtures around the park to reduce light pollution and make the stars more visible.

And there are so many more.

Why We Love WNPF

These beautiful, pristine parks belong to all of us, and together we have the power to sustain and improve these Washington treasures. Whether your passions for our Parks are to protect and restore wildlife, to explore the mountains, lakes and valleys, to volunteer for the Parks or the restoration of sweeping meadows filled with wildflowers, WNPF’s list of funding priorities for 2017 is filling vital gaps in current federal funding.
